About Barnford House
We are Barnford House, a residential care home in Oldbury. We support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, and people living with an eating disorder. Many of those living here are younger adults. This is somewhere people live rather than somewhere they are placed, and that shows in how the house runs. People choose how their rooms look, what goes on the shopping list and how they spend their time. Meals get planned together, and decisions about the household are made with the people in it rather than handed down. Support is built around the life each person wants. That might mean college, work, volunteering, sport or seeing family, with as much or as little backing as those things take. Where somebody wants to become more independent, we work at it steadily and at their pace rather than deciding in advance what is beyond them. Where an eating disorder or a mental health condition is part of the picture, we work calmly and consistently and keep in close contact with the specialist teams involved, because this is not work any one service does well on its own. We work closely with families and social workers, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please contact us if you would like to visit.
