About The Rookery
The Rookery is a small care home in Salford, providing residential care for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, along with respite stays for people who need somewhere for a short while. We are a house, not an institution, and the scale is deliberate. A small number of people sharing a home can have a settled rhythm, know one another properly and have a real say in how things are done. The shopping, the meals, what happens at the weekend, who does what around the place. These are the decisions that make somewhere feel like yours. Support is shaped around each person rather than the house. Some of the people living here need a great deal of help with personal care and daily routines. Others mainly need someone steady in the background while they get on with work, college, friendships and their own interests. The point is to give exactly as much help as is wanted and no more. For autistic adults especially, predictability counts. We keep the staff team consistent, introduce anyone new carefully and do not spring changes on people. Respite stays are planned with the same care, because a short stay that goes badly helps nobody. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering the house for yourself or someone in your family, come and visit and see what an ordinary day here looks like.
