About Beaufort House
Beaufort House is a residential care home in Redcar. We support older people and younger adults, including adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults and people with mental health needs, and we offer respite stays for people who need care for a shorter period. With residents of different ages and very different needs living together, we cannot run on one timetable and we do not try to. Support is planned person by person. We help with personal care, meals, medication and appointments, and we support people to keep up the interests, work, study and friendships that make a week feel like their own. Where someone manages something themselves, we protect that and stay nearby rather than taking over. Communication is something we take real time over. Knowing how a person asks for help, how they show that something is wrong and what helps them settle when a day becomes difficult is the foundation of everything else we do. Mental health support is provided alongside colleagues in local health teams where that is helpful, and we would rather notice a change early than wait for a crisis. Families are welcome whenever they wish to visit and we would far rather hear about a worry early. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we judge ourselves on whether life at Beaufort House actually feels like home.
