About Manor Care Home
Guisborough Manor Care Home is a residential care home in Guisborough, in Redcar and Cleveland. We care for older people, including many living with dementia, and we take respite bookings for people who need a stay of a few weeks rather than permanently. We run an unhurried home. People get up when they choose, eat food that is worth sitting down to, keep their own things around them and spend the day as suits them. Some join in with everything happening, others prefer a quiet corner and the paper, and neither needs justifying. What we try hard to avoid is anybody spending a day with nothing going on around them at all. Most of what helps people living with dementia is steadiness rather than cleverness. Familiar staff, a predictable shape to the day, calm surroundings and time given instead of rushed. We learn about somebody's earlier life from them and their family, because knowing who a person has been changes how you talk with them now, and where somebody is distressed we look for the cause rather than the label. We keep close working relationships with local GPs and district nurses, and families are welcome and involved in decisions. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Do ring if you would like to look round Guisborough Manor.
