About Belmont View
Belmont View is a residential care home in Guisborough. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for families who need a planned break. A home should feel like somewhere people live, not somewhere things happen to them. So meals are flexible, bedtimes are personal, and the afternoon can be empty if that is what somebody wants. With dementia we protect routine above almost everything, and we learn enough of somebody's past that their conversation makes sense to us rather than sounding confused. People coming for a short break get the same attention as anybody else. We gather what we need in advance, because there is no time to learn somebody slowly. Dignity in personal care is something we are particular about. Being washed or helped to the lavatory should not cost somebody their self respect. We keep relatives informed when health changes rather than waiting for the next visit. A short phone call is nearly always better than a surprise. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We try to be a place where staff stay long enough to know people properly.
