About Rook Lodge
Rook Lodge is a residential care home in Ilford. We support older people and younger adults, including people managing mental health conditions, and we offer respite stays. Our approach with residents who have mental health needs is recovery focused, which means we assume people can move forward and we build support around what somebody wants their life to look like rather than around managing them. For some that leads towards more independent living. For others it means stability, routine and somewhere that is genuinely theirs for as long as they need it. We do not push anybody towards either. Staff here are available without being intrusive. Residents come and go, cook for themselves where they want to, look after their own medication where that is safe, and take part in running the house. We hold regular residents meetings and act on what comes out of them rather than minuting it and moving on. We work closely with community mental health teams, care coordinators and GPs, and with families where people want them involved. Consistency between us and those teams matters enormously, so we stay in regular contact rather than speaking only at reviews. For older residents the work is often more practical, and the same principles apply. Ask how somebody has always lived, then work that way. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to visit and see how the house runs.
