About Karma Liv-in
We are a residential care home in Ilford supporting older people and adults living with mental health needs, including younger adults, and we welcome respite guests. The home is small enough that people know each other and staff know families. That matters more than any amount of decoration. Residents choose when to get up, what to eat and how to spend their time, and staff learn the things that make someone feel at home rather than merely accommodated. Supporting people living with mental health needs alongside older residents works because we plan around individuals. We pay attention to early signs that someone is becoming unwell, we work with community mental health teams rather than separately from them, and we treat recovery and stability as the point rather than simply keeping things quiet. For younger adults we make sure the day contains something worth doing, since a life arranged around an older population would not suit anybody in their thirties or forties. Respite stays give family carers a break and give the person staying company and a change of scene, with the same support a permanent resident receives. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you are looking at options in this part of London, please arrange to come and visit us on an ordinary day.
