About Victoria Lodge
Victoria Lodge is a residential care home in Southsea, and we support adults living with mental ill health, including younger adults. Respite stays are available as well. We are a household rather than a unit, and that is deliberate. People here have their own rooms and their own belongings, and a real say over how the day goes. What we offer most of is stability: a team people come to know well, a shape to the week that holds, and a house that does not come apart when somebody has a difficult stretch. Recovery is rarely a straight line, and we plan for that rather than being surprised by it. Support is agreed with the person and written in terms they recognise. Some people here need a good deal of practical help with daily living, medication and appointments. Others mainly want somewhere settled to live while they rebuild, with support available when they ask for it rather than imposed. We work alongside community mental health teams, GPs and social workers, and we keep pressing when somebody needs something that is slow to arrive. We take people's own plans seriously. Work, study, hobbies, family, friendships and moving on to something more independent are all things to support rather than manage around. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Anyone considering Victoria Lodge, family or professional, is welcome to visit and ask us anything.
