About Seaview Residential Home
Seaview Residential Home is a care home in Southsea in Portsmouth. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people managing mental health conditions, and we offer respite stays. Southsea suits us. The sea is close, the front is a proper walk rather than a token one, and plenty of the people living here have known this part of Portsmouth all their lives, which means the community keeps coming through the door. We encourage that. Visitors are welcome at whatever hour works for them rather than whatever suits our rota. We plan care person by person, because the people here do not share a single set of needs. What settles somebody with dementia is not what helps somebody living with a long standing mental health condition, and one routine stretched across everyone tends to suit nobody. So we spend our time on the details: how somebody likes to be spoken to, what they can still do themselves, what makes a bad day and what heads it off early. The rest belongs to the people living it. Getting up when you choose, eating what you want, keeping up with family, friends and whatever you have always done. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We keep asking residents and relatives what needs our attention.
