About Beaconsfield Residential Care Home
Beaconsfield Residential Care Home is a residential care home in Southsea, Portsmouth, supporting adults who need help with daily living in an ordinary house rather than an institution. Much of our work is with adults who have a learning disability or who are autistic, and with people managing mental health conditions. We begin by getting to know the person properly, which means learning how they communicate, what a good day looks like for them, what they find difficult and what they would like to be able to do for themselves. Support plans are written with the person, and with family or an advocate where that is wanted, and they change as people change. Independence matters here. If somebody can do something themselves, or could learn to with patient backing, our job is to make that possible rather than to take it over. We also offer respite stays, giving family carers a planned break while their relative stays somewhere welcoming and properly staffed. We should be open about our regulator. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We do not think that is good enough. We have taken it seriously and there is work in hand to put things right, and we would rather set that out plainly than leave it unsaid. If you are considering Beaconsfield, please come and see the house for yourself, meet the team and ask us the questions you actually want answered.
