About Fairholme House
Fairholme House is a residential care home in Banbury, Oxfordshire. We provide a home for older people, including those living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we also offer respite stays, whether that is to give a family carer a break or to help somebody find their feet again after a spell in hospital. We would rather be judged on ordinary things than on anything grand. Knowing how everybody likes their tea. Remembering which chair belongs to whom. Understanding who wants company from breakfast onwards and who would much rather be left with a newspaper. Helping somebody up when they wake rather than when it suits a rota. We ask about these preferences, write them down and expect them to be followed, because that is most of what makes a place feel like home instead of an institution. Dementia support is a large part of our work. Steady routines, familiar faces and patience do more good than anything else, along with a genuine effort to understand what somebody is telling us when words have become difficult. We treat distress as communication rather than as behaviour to be managed, and we ask families in detail about history and habits, because that information often makes the present make sense. Families are welcome whenever it suits them and we would rather raise something early than wait to be asked. If you are considering a care home in Banbury for someone close to you, please come and look round and ask us anything you like.
