About Emmaus House
Emmaus House is a residential care home in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, caring for older people who need day to day support in a place that still feels like home. We offer permanent residential care, dementia care, and respite stays for people who need short term support or whose families need a rest. We keep life here as close to ordinary as we can manage. People choose when to get up, what to eat, whether to sit in company or take themselves off somewhere quiet, and what to do with an afternoon. Help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility is there whenever it is wanted, offered rather than imposed. For residents living with dementia we work at their pace and in their world rather than insisting on ours. Familiar routines, familiar staff and a calm setting do more good than correction, and knowing somebody's history is often the key to reaching them on a hard day. Families matter to how this house runs. Visitors are welcome at times that suit them, we keep relatives properly informed, and we would much rather hear a small concern early than have somebody sit on it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we treat that as the standard we are expected to keep meeting. If you are looking at care homes in Harrogate for yourself or a relative, please arrange to come and see us. You will learn more in half an hour here than in any brochure.
