About Collingwood Court
Collingwood Court is a residential care home in North Shields, North Tyneside. We support older adults and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, and people living with a physical disability. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our thinking is straightforward. This is where people live, so it should run to suit them. Everyone has their own room and their own things, a real say in the day, and help with the parts of it that have become hard, whether that is washing and dressing, medication, meals or getting to appointments. What somebody can still manage themselves, they keep managing, with as much time as it takes. Supporting people with mental health needs calls for steadiness more than anything. Difficult stretches are part of life rather than emergencies, and we do not respond to them by changing everything at once. We stick with what has been agreed, keep talking, and work alongside whoever else is involved in a person's care. We keep the home connected to the town. Trips out, visitors at hours that suit them, and holding on to the interests and relationships people arrive with. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission. Please come and see the home, talk to people here, and ask us whatever you want to know.
