About The Heathers
The Heathers is a residential care home in Kettering. We support younger adults and people living with dementia, mental ill health, a learning disability or autism, which makes for a varied household and means we plan for each person rather than running the place to a single routine. Everybody here has their own room to retreat to and a genuine say in how the house is run. We ask before somebody moves in how they like their day to go and what they would much rather do for themselves, and we write it down so that staff follow the person rather than a rota. Where somebody has a learning disability or is autistic, we use the way of communicating they already trust and take the time to learn it properly. Where mental ill health is part of the picture, we work closely with community teams and involve the person in decisions rather than making them overhead. Where dementia is involved, we keep the day familiar and the faces consistent. Some people here want to be out a good deal, at activities, at work or seeing family. Others prefer things quiet. Neither is treated as a problem. Short respite stays are available. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to look round.
