About Perrywood House
Perrywood House is a residential care home in Kettering supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people managing mental health conditions, most of them younger adults. Respite stays are available as well. The house is small on purpose, because being properly known by the people who support you does more good than any programme, and because support built around individuals works better than support built around a routine. We take time to learn how each person communicates, particularly when they are anxious and words become harder to find, what their sensory needs are and which parts of a week are reliably difficult. That understanding is recorded clearly so that nobody supporting someone is working from guesswork. What we want is for the people here to get on with the things they actually want to do, whether that is work, college, seeing family or simply going out when they feel like it. Support plans are written with the person in language that is theirs, and they change when life changes rather than when a review falls due. We work closely with community mental health teams, social workers and health colleagues. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
