About The Grange

The Grange is a residential care home in Scunthorpe. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairment. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We try to run this as a home rather than an institution. Residents bring their own things, keep their own routines and make their own decisions about the shape of the day, and our job is to give the right amount of help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and mobility without taking over what somebody can still manage for themselves. Dementia care is a substantial part of our work. We spend time learning about each person's life, their habits and the things that settle them, because that is what allows staff to respond to the feeling behind a difficult moment rather than simply to the behaviour. Where a resident has a sensory impairment we adapt how we communicate and keep things where they expect to find them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that plainly than have you discover it elsewhere. We know which areas were identified, we are working through them with the whole team, and if you visit we will tell you honestly where we have got to and what is still in hand. Families are welcome at The Grange, and we would much rather hear a concern early than have it saved up.
