About 36a Birling Avenue
Our home on Birling Avenue in Gillingham is a residential care home supporting a mixed group of adults. Some of our residents are older people who need help with the practical parts of the day. Others are adults with a learning disability, autistic adults or younger adults who want support to get on with their own lives. That mix works because we plan for individuals rather than running one routine for the house. One person may want help to wash and dress and then to be left in peace. Another may want staff alongside them cooking, going out locally, getting to an appointment or sorting out something that has gone wrong. We pay attention to how each person communicates, what they find difficult and what helps them settle, and we build the plan with them and with the people who know them well. Our staff are trained in communication and in supporting somebody who is distressed. Everyday life includes cooking, shopping, keeping your own room how you want it, choosing how to spend the day and getting out into the local area. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. Respite stays are available and give family carers a genuine break while the person has a proper stay with us. Please contact us if you would like to come and look round.
