About Rochdale Road
We are Rochdale Road, a residential care home in Manchester. We support younger adults, including people living with a mental health condition, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Supporting somebody with a mental health condition in a residential setting asks for patience and consistency above all. Recovery is rarely a straight line, and a placement works best when a person is not treated as a problem to be managed on the harder days. A settled environment, staff who do not take a bad day personally, and a routine that is there to lean on rather than to enforce do more than anything else we could offer. The people who live here are adults with lives to lead rather than conditions to be managed, and support that treats them as passive gets in the way. So choice runs through the day as far as it can, covering ordinary decisions and bigger ones about care and treatment, and where a decision needs support we give the support rather than making it. We work alongside community mental health teams, GPs and social workers so that what happens here joins up with what happens elsewhere. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and do not currently hold an overall rating.
