About Melody Lodge
Melody Lodge is a residential care home in Spilsby supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We are a small house and we want it to feel like one. People have their own rooms, arranged as they want them, and a genuine say in how the household runs, from the shopping list to what happens at the weekend. Support is there for what needs it and stays out of the way of what does not. The aim is a full ordinary life rather than a well managed one. Work, college, volunteering, clubs, friendships, family, holidays and the everyday freedom to change your mind about any of it. Where something looks difficult or risky, our first question is how to make it happen rather than whether to allow it, because a life with no risk in it is not much of a life. Communication is where most of our effort goes. Nearly every difficulty in this kind of support traces back to somebody not being understood, so we learn how each person tells us what they want, in whatever form that takes, and we make sure the whole team can read it fluently. When somebody is distressed, we look at what we might change about the environment or our own approach before we look at them. Respite stays are available for families needing a planned break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. You are welcome to visit and see the house as it normally is.
