About Chestnut House
We are Chestnut House at Marton, a residential care home supporting adults who are managing a mental health condition. Most of the people who live here are younger adults. Our focus is deliberately narrow. It means the staff here are genuinely experienced in the work rather than being asked to cover everything, and it means the house is set up around what actually helps people with mental ill health rather than around a general model of care. Most of what we do is quiet and consistent. A settled routine that a person can rely on. Staff who stay long enough to be known and trusted. Support with medication that is reliable without being heavy handed. Practical help with the things that slip when somebody is unwell, from meals and laundry to appointments and correspondence. Somebody to talk to when things are difficult, and the good sense not to make a crisis of every bad day. Where people want to move towards more independence, we work at it at their pace and we do not treat a setback as a reason to stop. We keep in close contact with community mental health teams, GPs and social workers. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch to discuss a placement.
