About Clarence House & The Granary
We are Clarence House and The Granary in Horncastle, Lincolnshire. We provide residential care for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, including younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and we will not write around it. We have gone through what the inspection found, changed how we plan and record support, and strengthened the training and supervision of our staff. We are being held to account for the progress we make, and we talk about it openly with the people who live here, their families and the people who commission their care. What we are trying to protect while we do that work is the ordinary business of living here. These are homes, and small enough for us to know people properly. What somebody eats, how their day runs, what they want from their week and how much company they want are matters for them. Where change is difficult we keep things predictable and prepare carefully for anything unusual. Where somebody wants to be busy, with work, college or a regular group, we plan for that deliberately. If you are considering us, please visit and ask about the rating. We would rather answer that directly.
