About Swallowdale
Swallowdale is a residential care home in Alford, Lincolnshire, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. It is a house where people live, and we work hard to keep it feeling like one rather than like a service with bedrooms in it. We start with the individual. How someone communicates, what helps them feel settled, what they find difficult and what they want their week to hold. That understanding is written down properly so the whole team works consistently, and it is revisited as people change, because support that never adapts stops being support. Practical help covers personal care, medication and health appointments, cooking, shopping and managing money, and encouragement to get out into Alford and the surrounding area for activities, clubs, family visits or simply a regular trip somewhere familiar. Where somebody wants to do something that carries a little risk, our job is to find the way to make it safe enough rather than to say no by default. Respite stays are available too, giving families a planned break while their relative stays somewhere that becomes familiar quickly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering a placement in Lincolnshire, please come and visit and meet the people who live here.
