About West View Care Home
West View is a residential care home in Leicester. Those living here include older people, many living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and people managing mental health conditions. We also offer respite stays. A mixed household asks more of us rather than less. One routine will not suit everybody, so we work out individually what a good day looks like for each person and build from there. For some it is company and something going on. For others it is being left largely to themselves, and we treat that as a legitimate preference rather than something to be talked out of. Leicester is diverse in language, faith and food, and we treat that as something to build the household around rather than to accommodate at the edges. Being spoken to in your own language, and eating food that means something to you, are not small comforts when a good deal else has changed. For residents living with dementia we protect the routine and keep surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the working life, the places and the names, because those are what still connect when much else has slipped. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. We ask residents and their families regularly what we should be doing differently.
