About Kibworth Knoll
We are Kibworth Knoll, a residential care home near Leicester in Leicestershire. We provide a home for older people, including those living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we also take respite stays. Dementia care runs through much of our day. We have learned that arguing with someone's version of events achieves nothing, and that finding out who a person was, what they did, what they cared about, tells us far more about how to support them than any list of symptoms. A resident who spent forty years in a particular trade or raising a family in a particular town still carries that with them, and a conversation that connects to it can change an afternoon. For people with a physical disability, the practical things are what count. Time enough not to feel rushed. Equipment set up properly. Being asked how a transfer is best done rather than being handled according to whatever the last carer did. We are a residential home rather than a nursing one, and we work closely with local health services for anything beyond our remit. Respite guests get the same assessment and welcome as anyone else here. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
