About Harvey House

Harvey House is a residential care home in Leicester supporting a wide range of adults. We provide care for older people and for people living with dementia, and we also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental ill health, people with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Respite stays are available too. Supporting such a mixed group means we cannot run the home to a single pattern, and we do not try. What we aim for instead is a place where people are taken as they come and where support is built around the individual. Some residents want a very structured day. Others want the opposite, plenty of freedom and somewhere steady to come back to. Where someone has a physical disability or reduced sight or hearing, we pay attention to the practical details. Equipment that suits the person, a layout that stays predictable, things kept where they expect to find them, and staff who adapt how they communicate rather than expecting the person to manage. For residents with a learning disability or who are autistic, the environment is part of the support. Noise, lighting, predictability and somewhere quiet to go all matter. With dementia, familiar staff and a steady rhythm do most of the work, and we treat distress as something with a cause. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit Harvey House.
