About Cedar Mews

Cedar Mews is a residential care home in Leicester. We support older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we offer respite care for planned short stays. Moving into a care home is a considerable thing to ask of anyone, so we try to make the practical side of it calm and unhurried. Before somebody arrives we spend time with them and with the people who know them best, because it is the small details that decide how quickly a person settles. How they take their tea. Whether they are early risers. What work they did. Who they want to hear from. All of that shapes how we support them from the first day. After that, the day belongs to the resident. People choose when to get up, what to eat, where to sit and how much company they want. Meals are proper meals and we take note of what people genuinely enjoy. Because we support younger adults as well as older residents, we are careful not to run the home as though everybody wants the same things. Dementia support runs through the whole house rather than being kept to one side. We keep surroundings familiar, avoid rushing anybody, and take the time to understand what settles a particular resident. Where somebody has a physical disability we think carefully about how the home works for them. Respite stays are planned with the same care as a permanent move. Please contact us if you would like to look round.
