About Airedale Residential & Dementia Home
Airedale Residential and Dementia Home is in Pudsey, Leeds, and we support older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia, those living with mental ill health, those with physical disabilities and those living with sight or hearing loss. Younger adults are supported here too, and respite stays are available. Dementia care is in our name and it is a large part of what we do. The practical side of it is unglamorous: keeping the daily rhythm and the surroundings consistent, giving somebody time to find their words instead of finishing their sentence, and knowing enough about a person's earlier life to understand what a worry is really about. Families hold most of that knowledge and we ask for it early rather than guessing. Beyond that, what we aim for is an ordinary life with help attached. Residents decide when to get up, where to sit, whether they want company or quiet, and what they would like to eat. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, doing only as much as somebody actually needs. For residents with physical disabilities our attention goes to equipment that fits and transfers handled safely and without embarrassment. For those living with sight or hearing loss, unhurried communication makes most of the difference. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see us on an ordinary afternoon and ask us whatever you like.
