About Reiver House
Reiver House is a residential care home in Leyland. We support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, including younger adults and older people, and we offer respite stays. We work on the basis that this is the residents' house and we are the staff in it. People choose how their rooms look, what they do with their time, what goes on the shopping list and what is cooked. Where someone wants to take on more, whether that is managing their own money, travelling independently or holding down a job or college place, we support them to build up to it at their own pace. Autistic residents often tell us that the hardest thing about care settings is unpredictability. We take that seriously. Routines stay stable, changes are flagged well in advance, and we pay attention to noise, light and the need for somewhere quiet to go. Communication comes in many forms here and we learn each person's. Some use speech, some use signs, some use pictures or objects, and some show us how they feel in ways that need knowing rather than interpreting on the spot. Our staff are trained accordingly and we keep the team consistent. Respite guests are welcome to visit first and stay for a short while before committing to longer. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please arrange to come and meet us.
