About Calvert House
Calvert House is a residential care home in Leyland supporting adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, people with loss of sight or hearing, people living with mental health conditions, and people working through difficulties with alcohol or drugs. Most of the people living here are younger adults. We treat the house as belonging to the people who live in it. They arrange their own rooms, take part in the shopping and cooking as much as they want to, and decide how their days are spent. We support people to get out to work, to college, to clubs, to appointments and to see family. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition or working through difficulties with alcohol or drugs, consistency and an absence of judgement matter more than any technique. We do not treat a difficult week as a failure. Communication gets particular attention throughout the house, and where somebody has sensory loss we adapt how we approach and announce ourselves. Respite stays are available. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
