About The Sands Meadows
We are a residential care home in Lancaster, providing a permanent home for older people, including many living with dementia. The house runs at an unhurried pace, because most of what makes a care home bearable or pleasant happens in the small hours of the day rather than in anything grand. People choose when to get up, what to eat and how to spend their time. Some like company and conversation for most of the day, others want their own room and a bit of quiet, and both are perfectly acceptable here. We encourage people to bring their own furniture and pictures, since a room with somebody's own things in it settles a person far quicker than a tidy empty one. Our staff are here through the day and the night, and we work closely with GPs and district nurses so that health needs are dealt with early. For those living with dementia we keep the routine familiar and the atmosphere calm, and we give people time rather than trying to hurry them along. Families are welcome to visit and to be involved as much as their relative wishes. Respite and short stays are offered alongside permanent places. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated the home Good. If you would like to look round and meet the team, please ring us and arrange a time.
