About The Gables
The Gables in Huddersfield is a residential care home supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We keep this small and domestic on purpose. It is a house where people live rather than a unit where people are placed, and that shows in how the day runs. Everybody has their own room and their own belongings, and the shape of the week belongs to the people who live here. Support is agreed with each person and with those who know them well. For some it means help with every part of personal care, and for others it is prompting, encouragement and staff being nearby while they manage things themselves. We take communication seriously, learning how each person makes themselves understood and what their behaviour is telling us, and we record what we learn so that everybody supports the person in the same way. People are supported to get out into Huddersfield, to keep up activities and interests, to attend appointments and to see family and friends. Respite stays can be arranged where appropriate. If you are looking for a placement for somebody, please contact us. We will assess carefully and say honestly if we do not think we are the right fit.
