About Rowan Court
Rowan Court is a residential care home in Huddersfield supporting adults with a learning disability or autism, adults with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. It is a home rather than a placement, and we try to make sure it feels that way to everyone living here. Support is planned individually. It can include help with personal care, medication, cooking, laundry, managing money and getting to appointments, and it takes in the parts of life that are too easily treated as extras: friendships, going out, keeping up an interest, having something to look forward to. We communicate in the way that suits each person, adapting for sight and hearing where needed, and we help people move about safely without doing things for them that they can do themselves. Where somebody wants greater independence, support is planned to draw back as their confidence grows. Most of the people we support are younger adults. Respite stays are available too, giving family carers a real break and letting somebody try the house first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would sooner set that out here than leave you to find it, and the areas identified are where our attention is going. Please visit, meet the people who live here and ask us about it directly.
