About Moorlands Grange
We are Moorlands Grange, a residential care home in Huddersfield, in the borough of Kirklees. We provide residential care for older people, both as a permanent home and as a respite stay for those who need support for a shorter period. Residential care means helping with the parts of daily life that have become hard work and leaving the rest where it belongs, which is with the person. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, moving about safely, and the ordinary company that makes a day worth having. Where health needs go beyond our registration we work with district nurses and GPs rather than stretching to cover something we should not, and we are clear with families about where that line falls. We think a care home ought to feel like a home rather than an institution, and most of what that takes is unremarkable. People keep their own belongings and routines. Meals are sociable rather than administered. Nobody needs permission to have a visitor. Respite guests receive the same assessment and the same welcome as permanent residents. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
