About Cragside
Cragside is a residential care home in Huddersfield, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. We also offer respite stays. Because there are few of us, nothing much happens unnoticed. Staff know people's routines closely, and decisions about the house get made with everybody in the room. Everybody here decides how their own space looks and has a hand in how the household runs. Where somebody wants paid work or to study, we treat that as the purpose of our support. Predictability is something we take particularly seriously. For many of those living here, knowing exactly what is happening and who will be on shift is the difference between a settled day and a difficult one, so we plan ahead and explain changes early. We ask people what a good day would look like for them, and then we try to arrange more of those and fewer of the other kind. We take complaints seriously rather than defensively. If a resident or a relative raises something, we would rather deal with it properly that week than let it become a grievance. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We think the useful question is whether people here look at ease.
