About Cloyda Care Home
Cloyda is a care home in New Malden for older people, including those living with dementia. What we offer is fairly straightforward: warm rooms, meals cooked on the premises, help with washing and dressing given discreetly, and staff who have the time to sit down and talk. Before somebody moves in we ask about the small preferences that often get lost in a move, from what time a person likes to get up to how they take their tea, and we write them down so nobody has to keep explaining themselves. For people living with dementia we keep the day familiar and unhurried. We ask families to tell us about the life behind the person, including the work they did and the family they talk about, and we use that in conversation and to steady things when somebody is distressed. Days here are not heavily organised. There is usually something going on for those who want it and quiet corners for those who do not. Relatives are welcome whenever they want to come, and visiting is not something we ration. Short respite stays are available, whether to give a carer at home a rest or to help somebody regain confidence after hospital. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Do come and see us before you decide anything.
