About Tarrys Residential Home
Tarrys Residential Home is a care home in Herne Bay, Kent. We support older people who need help with daily life, including many living with dementia, and adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We also offer respite stays. We are a home of a size where everybody knows everybody, and that is deliberate rather than accidental. Our team can tell when a resident is not themselves long before it would show up at a formal review, which is usually while something can still be put right easily. People here decide their own basics. When to get up and go to bed, what to eat, whether to join in with what is going on or keep to their own room. Rooms are furnished with people's own things, and visitors come when it suits them rather than when it suits us. For residents living with dementia, familiarity does most of the work, so we keep staffing settled and learn each person's history properly, which is what allows us to make sense of what they are telling us. Where somebody has a learning disability or is autistic, we plan around how they prefer to be supported and how they communicate. Health needs are looked after alongside local GPs and community nurses, and families hear from us early when anything changes. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. Please come and visit.
