About St Peter's Care Home
St Peter's Care Home sits in Herne Bay and provides residential care for adults who need support with daily living, most of them older people, though we also support younger adults whose needs suit what we offer. We are not a large institution and we have no wish to feel like one. People here keep their own routines as far as possible, get up and go to bed when it suits them, and have their own room to retreat to. Our staff give help with washing and dressing, with moving about safely, with medication and with meals, and they do it quietly and without fuss. Where somebody can still manage part of a task themselves, we let them, because doing things for people who do not need it is one of the quickest ways to take away confidence. Food is cooked here and there is usually a choice. The lounge is busy in the afternoons and the garden gets used whenever the Kent weather allows. Nobody is made to join in and nobody is left out either. We take people for respite stays as well as permanently, which helps families who need a break and gives people a chance to see what we are like before committing. Visitors are welcome and we prefer families to come often. If you would like to see the home, telephone us and we will fix a time.
