About Manor View
Manor View is a residential care home in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. With that mix under one roof, support has to be built around each individual rather than around a house routine. We take time to learn how each person communicates, what they can do for themselves, where they would like a hand and what tends to make a day harder, and we write support plans with the person in language that is genuinely theirs. For autistic residents, predictable routines and attention to sensory needs usually matter more than anything else we do. More generally we want this to be a house where people are known rather than managed. Residents keep their own routines where they want to, bring their own things and are asked about how the home runs rather than told, which counts for a good deal when so much else has already been decided for them. Respite stays are planned with visits beforehand wherever we can arrange them. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather people came and saw the home for themselves.
