About Westbourne Care Home
Westbourne Care Home is in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Supporting such a mixed group under one roof takes planning rather than luck. A younger adult with a learning disability working towards more independence and an older resident living with dementia want very different things from a week, and support here is built around the individual rather than around a single house routine. What we provide is residential care. Staff are on duty day and night to help with personal care, dressing, medication and meals, while doctors and district nurses come in for clinical needs. For residents living with dementia we keep the day in a familiar order, keep the staff group as steady as we can and take time to learn about the person's earlier life. For autistic residents we pay attention to predictable routine, clear information and honest notice before anything changes. Sight and hearing loss are taken seriously rather than worked around. Respite and short stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring to arrange a visit.
