About Highbury Rise
Highbury Rise is a residential care home in Hitchin in Hertfordshire. We support older people, including those living with dementia, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and it would be wrong to open with anything else. We know what the inspectors found, we have an improvement plan and we are working through it with our staff team, with families and with the local authority. If you are considering a place here you are entitled to ask exactly what is being put right and how progress is being checked, and we will answer that directly. What we are working to protect while we make those changes is the part of this home that people value. Rooms that belong to the person in them. Staff who know somebody well enough to notice when they are not themselves. A day that is not run by a timetable. Visitors welcome without fuss. For people living with dementia we focus on familiarity and time, keeping the same staff involved wherever we can and learning about a person's life from their family so that we can reassure rather than correct. Respite guests are welcome, and for some families a short stay is a sensible way to see how things go before any longer decision is made. Please come and look round, talk to the staff and ask us the difficult questions. We would rather have that conversation than not.
