About Glebe House
We are a residential care home in Rainham, providing a home for older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia, people with mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. Our aim is a settled house where help is close at hand without taking over somebody's life. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Where someone needs help with washing, dressing or moving about, we try to give it without hurry and without doing more of the task than is actually needed. Dementia care rests on knowing the person rather than following a procedure, so we ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We would rather tell you that ourselves than leave you to find it elsewhere. We are working through the points the inspectors raised, and if you are considering the home for someone close to you we will go through the report with you and answer whatever you want to ask. Please come and see the place as it really is. Talking to the people who live here, and to their families, will tell you more than we can.
