About Rowland House
We are Rowland House, a residential care home in the London Borough of Harrow. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people living with a mental health condition, including younger adults, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. The people we support often have needs that overlap in ways the usual categories do not capture. Somebody may have a learning disability and be managing a mental health condition as well, and support that addresses only one of those will not hold up for long. So we plan around the person and take time to find out what genuinely helps on a good day and on a difficult one. Consistency does most of the work. Familiar staff, a routine somebody can rely on, information given in a form they can actually use, and people who do not take a bad day personally. Where a routine matters we protect it rather than asking for flexibility that suits us. Choice runs through the day as far as it can, and where a decision needs support we support it rather than making it. Families and advocates are involved as much as the person wants them to be. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
