About Whitemoor House
We are Whitemoor House in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, a residential home supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. Most of the people we support are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. We are in the New Forest, and that is not incidental. Being able to get outside, walk, see the animals and use the local shops and cafes is part of everyday life here rather than something arranged occasionally, and it matters a great deal to people who have not always had easy access to any of it. Inside, this is a home rather than a placement. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat and how they spend their time, and they are supported to keep up with family and friends and with work, college or volunteering. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, we work through the steps with them rather than deciding what is realistic on their behalf. Everything rests on knowing people well. We take time to learn how each person communicates, what they find stressful and what helps them settle again, and we make sure anyone new understands it before supporting somebody alone. Consistency of staffing is one of the most useful things we can offer. If you are looking for residential support in this part of Hampshire, please arrange to visit. Meet the people who live here, ask what an ordinary week looks like, and see whether it feels right.
