About Highfield House
Highfield House is a residential care home in Stroud for adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people living with mental health conditions. Most of the people we support are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. We run this as a house rather than a unit. People have their own space and their own routines, they are involved in the shopping and the cooking, and they are supported to get out into Stroud and the surrounding area, to use local facilities, to see family and friends and to do the things they enjoy. Where somebody wants more independence, our job is to help them get there rather than to hold on. Support has to be built around the individual. Some people need a calm, predictable house and plenty of notice before anything changes. Others want activity and encouragement. We take the time to learn which, we write it down plainly, and we expect every member of staff to work the same way so that support does not vary from shift to shift. Where a person also has mental health needs, we watch for the early signs of things becoming harder and work with community teams so that support can be increased before a crisis develops. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking for a placement in Gloucestershire, or would like to discuss respite, please get in touch and come and see the house.
