About Riverside House
Riverside House is a residential care home in Newnham in Gloucestershire. We support adults with a learning disability or autism, along with older people who need residential care, and we offer respite stays for families and carers who need a planned break. We think of this as somebody's home rather than a placement. People here have their own space, their own belongings and a real say in how their week runs. Some of the people we support have lived with us for a long time and know the village, the shops and the people in them well. Others come to us having had a difficult time elsewhere, and with those moves we go slowly, visiting first, staying for a meal, then a night, until the place feels familiar rather than strange. Our team supports people to do as much for themselves as they can and want to. That might mean cooking together rather than cooking for somebody, working out how to travel to a favourite place independently, keeping up a job or a college course, or simply having the right kind of help to manage money and appointments. Where somebody communicates differently, we learn how they communicate rather than expecting the other way round. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking for a place, for yourself or for somebody in your family, we would be glad to show you round and answer whatever you want to ask.
