About Swan Care Home
We are Swan Care Home in Southminster, Essex. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also take respite bookings for shorter stays. We have kept our focus clear rather than trying to be everything to everyone. Residential care for older people is what we do, and dementia care is a large part of it. Doing that well depends on knowing each person properly: their history, the work they did, the family names, the things that comfort them and the things that reliably unsettle them. Staff who carry that knowledge are the ones who can head off distress before it takes hold, and who notice quickly when somebody is unwell. Beyond that, much of what makes a day here good is quite unremarkable. A decent breakfast at a time that suits you. Your own chair and your own belongings. The garden when the weather allows. Company if you want it and quiet if you would rather, and somebody with the time to sit down and properly listen. We also support people to keep hold of what they can still manage themselves, and to keep up the connections they already have locally. Relatives are welcome at any reasonable hour, and we tell them when something has changed rather than waiting to be asked. Please ring us and come and see the home at a normal busy time of day.
