About Woodboro Residential Care Home
We are Woodboro Residential Care Home in Clacton on Sea, Essex. We support older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, people managing a mental health condition and people with a physical disability, and we offer respite stays. Residential care means supporting people with what has become hard work and leaving everything else where it belongs, which is with the person. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, getting about safely, and the ordinary company that makes a day worth having. For health needs beyond our registration we work alongside district nurses and GPs rather than stretching to cover them, and we tell families plainly where that line falls. Dementia takes up much of our day, and what helps most is knowing the person. Their history, their working life, the routines they have kept for decades. Someone distressed almost always has a reason for it, and the reason is more often practical than people expect. Where a mental health condition is part of the picture, the same principles apply: consistency, staff who do not take a difficult day personally, and a routine that is there to lean on rather than to enforce. For residents with a physical disability the practical details matter most. Enough time that nothing is rushed, equipment set up properly, and asking the person how they prefer things done rather than assuming. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
