About Penfold Lodge
Penfold Lodge is a residential care home in Clacton On Sea, Essex. We are a house by the coast where people live at their own pace, and we try to keep the feel of a home rather than an institution. We care for older people, including many living with dementia, and we also support adults managing a mental health condition and younger adults who need residential care. Our team helps with personal care, medication, meals and mobility, but the part we think about hardest is the ordinary shape of a day. Getting up when you want to, eating something you actually fancy, having company when you want it and peace when you do not. Dementia care runs through much of our work. We learn people's histories, the jobs they did, the music they liked, the family names that still bring a smile, and we use that knowledge every day rather than filing it away. We offer respite stays too, which give a family carer a proper break while their relative is somewhere settled and looked after. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We work closely with relatives and local health services, and visitors are welcome.
