About Maitland House
We are Maitland House, a residential care home in Clacton on Sea supporting older people and younger adults. What we offer is residential care done properly rather than anything more elaborate. Help with washing, dressing and moving about safely. Support with medication. Meals worth sitting down to. Warm rooms, and company for those who want it. We are not a nursing home and we are clear with families about that, because the worst outcome for anybody is moving somewhere that cannot meet their needs. The home is run around the people living in it. Nobody is woken to suit a rota. Breakfast happens when somebody comes down rather than at a fixed hour. Some residents like the lounge and the conversation that fills it, others would rather keep to their own room and their own quiet, and neither choice needs defending. Our staff stay long enough to know people properly, which is how you notice that somebody is quieter than usual or off their food before it becomes something serious. We keep families in the picture and would far rather make an early call about a small worry. Visitors are welcome whenever suits them. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please contact us if you would like to look round.
