About Healey House

Healey House is a residential care home in St Leonards on Sea, supporting older people and younger adults, including residents with a visual or hearing impairment. We are a home where the day runs comfortably and where staff and residents know one another properly. A sensory impairment changes how a place needs to work, and we pay attention to that. Telling someone who you are as you come into the room, explaining what is about to happen before you help, keeping furniture and belongings where they were left, and making sure nobody misses out on what is going on around them. None of it is complicated, but it has to be done consistently, and it matters enormously to how safe and included a person feels. Otherwise our days are flexible. People get up when they are ready, eat food that is cooked here and worth looking forward to, and spend their time in company or quietly as they prefer. Support with washing and dressing is given calmly and with dignity. Relatives are welcome throughout the day, and we would far rather hear about a concern early than late. We also offer respite stays for shorter periods. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and you are welcome to visit.
